The challenge
Selling online is the easy part. The hard part starts after the customer taps "place order". The order has to reach the right store. Someone has to pick it, check it and hand it to a driver. The driver has to deliver it and, when the customer pays cash, bring that cash back. Head office has to see all of it, for every store.
This retailer runs stores in three cities, and they were doing that work across several separate third-party apps. None of them showed the whole order from start to finish.
That means handoffs fall through the gaps. An order taken in one tool has to be followed into another. Pickers, till staff, drivers and the office each see a different piece. Mistakes surface at the customer's door instead of in the store. Cash collected by drivers is tracked apart from the orders it belongs to. Stock sits in more than one warehouse, so knowing what each store can actually sell is guesswork. And with staff spread over three cities, it's hard to control who can see and change what.
They needed one system that follows each order from the customer's phone to the cash back at the store, store by store.
What we built
We deployed the Enterprise Multi-Store Commerce Solution for them as their own white-label system: it runs on their own domain, and the apps are published under their brand. Here is how each part answers a problem they had.
An app customers come back to, that the retailer controls. Customers order from the retailer's own customer app and choose home delivery, with cash on delivery. The app's screens can be customised from the console, so the retailer can change what customers see without waiting on a developer.
Opens a larger viewStore inventory across multiple warehouses. The retailer manages store inventory across its warehouses from one console, so head office can see stock wherever it sits and keep each store supplied. Nobody has to switch between apps to see what's going on in each city.
Picking without double work. Store staff pick orders in the picker app. An order is locked to the picker who takes it, so two people don't pick the same order. Items go into barcoded baskets, and anything out of stock is marked unavailable or substituted.
Opens a larger viewEvery line checked before it leaves. On the till verification dashboard, staff scan each line, flag missing or damaged items, add paid bags, print the receipt and send the order to dispatch. Problems are caught in the store, not at the door.
Opens a larger viewDelivery with proof. Drivers use the driver app to collect orders by scanning baskets. They follow the route map, check the address pin, and capture a photo and signature at the door. They collect cash on delivery and return the baskets.
Cash that adds up. Every driver has a wallet showing the cash they should hand in against what they collected. The store settles it from the console, order by order.
The right access for every role. Staff management with role-based access control means pickers, till staff, drivers, store managers and head office each see and change only what their role allows.
How it works day to day
A customer opens the retailer's app, places an order and picks home delivery, paying cash at the door if they prefer. The order lands with the store that will fulfil it.
A picker takes the order, which locks it to them, and fills the baskets. At the till, the order is scanned line by line, checked and printed, then moves to dispatch.
A driver scans the baskets, heads out, and delivers with photo and signature proof. For cash orders, they collect payment and later return the baskets. Back at the store, the driver's wallet is settled.
Head office keeps an eye on stock across the warehouses and on every store in all three cities from the same console, and adjusts the customer app's screens when it needs to.
Results
We share only what we can stand behind. We haven't published figures, because the client hasn't measured or approved any. Here is what changed in practice:
- One platform in place of every third-party app. The platform fully replaced the separate apps the retailer used before. Customer ordering, inventory across warehouses, picking, till checks, delivery and cash settlement now run in one system, a single stop for their day-to-day operations.
- One view across stores in 3 cities. Head office manages every store, and the inventory in every warehouse, from one console.
- Checks built into the flow. Every line is scanned at the till, and every delivery has photo and signature proof.
- Cash on delivery that is accounted for. Each driver's collected cash is tracked against what was expected and settled at the store.
- Clear access by role. Staff see only what their job needs.
- Their system, their brand. The platform runs on the retailer's own domain, and the apps are published under their own brand.
Opens a larger viewWhy it matters for businesses like yours
If you run more than one store and deliver to customers' homes, you probably know this picture: orders in one place, the store floor in another, drivers on the phone, and cash counted at the end of the day by hand.
The fix isn't a bigger team. It's every step of the order living in one system, with each store seeing its own work and head office seeing everything. That's what the Enterprise Multi-Store Commerce Solution is built for: supermarkets, pharmacies, distributors and any multi-branch retailer that delivers. It's used by businesses in multiple countries, each on its own domain and under its own brand.
Built with you, not just rented to you
We don't just hand over a login and a monthly bill. We tailor the Enterprise Multi-Store Commerce Solution to the way each client works, and when they need a new module or feature, we build it on demand. We see it as a long-term partnership: the platform grows with the business, instead of the business bending to fit a rented tool.
See it with your own stores
We'll walk you through the full order flow, from the customer app to cash settlement, using sample stores. If something you need isn't there yet, tell us, and we'll talk about building it. Pricing is a custom quote for your store network, hosted by us or on your own servers.
